EDITOR'S
COMMENTS
Hello folks,
Forgive the missing October Celtic
Links, I was fortunate enough to be able to make a last-minute trip to
Medugorje in Bosnia Herzegovina in the middle of the month and this meant
a big catch-up on my return plus loads of new ideas for the Circle of Prayer
website (See below)
The month of November sees us swimmin'
as rainfalls have far exceeded the norms for this time of year. Dublin
suburbs were under 3-4 feet of water on Thursday where the River Tolka
burst its banks. We've had our first frosts and now batten down the hatches
for the
next few months. Mind you, the weather
hasn't halted all the fun in Galway - nightclubs are still packed, the
students are back in town for 'the college season' and traffic is as bad
as ever. Christmas is just around the corner and we have loads on offer.
Be mindful of delivery dates if you wish to order and send that special
Christmas gift this year.

WHAT'S
HAPPENING IN IRELAND
Our Referendum on the Nice Treaty
was passed second time round, wonder what the word democracy means as we
sure ain't got it here, the people said NO first time round! Now we all
sit back and watch all the rubbish that'll pour in from Europe disguised
as Human Rights and Equality legislation.
Behind closed doors the orchestrates
of this 'New World Order", have already begun work on a European Constitution.
Central Power will not rest easy with the Irish who treasure their own
constitution. Took us 700 years to become a free nation again and in less
than 40 we have signed up to another foreign power, albeit a group of nations.
We've 'sold our soul to the devil for 30 pieces of silver'. Already our
government has agreed to human cloning at EURO level despite this type
of research being banned in our own Constitution. Ah well, watch this space
folks, no doubt there will be loads to speak about.
Tribunals and investigations continue
to provide great 'amusement and frustration'. The latest is an investigation
into Garda (police) activity in County Donegal. The Flood Tribunal investigating
political corruption is in a quiet phase at the moment but we expect to
hear more big names being investigated. The Moriarty Tribunal continues
to look at off-shore
Ansbacher Accounts. Yer 'Joe Soap'
on the street has to pay his taxes yet these 'fat cats' can stash away
their monies tax-free following the advice of banks and financial whiz-kids.
The Lindsay Tribunal has completed its work on the Hepatitis C Scandal
where haemophiliacs and pregnant women were given infected blood products
over a long period of time. But culpability was missing and there are now
calls for heads to roll. Yesterday there was a High court decision in favour
of a lady whose womb was removed by an obstetrician a Drogheda Hospital
for no apparent emergency reason after the delivery of only her first child.
It appears there are about 100 similar cases pending against the same man
and the hospital and calls are being made for a public enquiry to these
events.
Our Soccer has been in the news lately
with all sorts of twists and turns. As a result of two very bad scoring
games where we were beaten by Russia and Switzerland Mick McCarthy resigned
as Team Manager last week and hot on the heels came the report into the
Saipan Fiasco where Roy Keane was sent home for abusing his manager, Mick.
The Football Association of Ireland came out of this report in very poor
light and it was quite damming and scathing in it's investigation of management
at top level of the association. The CEO resigned as a result but many
of us feel more should go. Ireland has a really good soccer
team managed by Muppets in a mickey
mouse fashion at top level.
On the GAA front we're in Club Championship
games and our neighbours, Athenry, march on for the Club Hurling Championship.
Our neighbours on the other side, Corofin, lost their football game so
we only have one interest now from the county - hurling.
Ireland played a corker of a game
against Australia last Saturday in the Rugby friendlies as their lead in
to the World Cup. We beat them well on a pitch that was like a paddlin'
pool after all the rain. 'Course this suited the Irish lads, the Aussies
being more used to hard, dry pitches.
Well - 'nuff guff from here. Time
to let you know what's changing
in the Shops!

CIRCLE
OF PRAYER
The Circle of Prayer is undergoing
a slight face-lift with a much better navigation system and loads of new
discussion topics. I'm aiming to get the index page translated into as
many different languages as possible so I need a huge favour from people
who are fluent in other languages. Would anybody be willing to translate
about 3-400 words for me please as this site is purely non-commercial and
with no financial support whatsoever.
Email me back if you'd like to help
please at:
The Circle of Prayer continues to
grow nicely with over 230 people joined together in prayer from all over
the world. The prayer book continues to fill up, with heartfelt prayer
requests. Pop in and see what it's all about and maybe even decide to set
aside just 10
minutes a day to join us all in a
wee bit of time with the Father.
Well folks, that's all for this time.
Thanks for your patience in staying this far.
God Bless, an' hope to 'see you all'
next month.
