Gaelic Septs & Clans.
Irish
Family Names Map
The Irish Family Names map folds out
to display a colourful map with Ireland in the centre. It is divided into
counties and the names of Ireland's principal families are displayed on
it. This shows the location of their lands from the 14th century, following
the Anglo-Norman invasion.
A list of names with their appropriate
county surrounds the family names map and the medieval coats of arms of
many of the family names are displayed around the edge of the map. A helpful
resource for anyone interested in Irish genealogy and tracing their Irish
roots.
Below we offer a selection of Ancestry.com
maps from Europe and the US, some dating back as far as the 17th century.
They should prove an invaluable resource for those studying genealogy or
for the person on a serious ancestry search who might wish to follow up
their research with 'how places were'.
